1b: My Topic
I decided on the topic of The Last 100 Years In America. I figure there should be plenty to write about in fifteen pages. There are plenty of sources I can use and it's not a hard topic. I figure I can write it in terms of presidents instead of by decades. Such as under this president we had a war, something was invented, new laws were passed, and so on and so forth. The recent election, got me to thinking how society in America has changed so much from 100 years ago.
I never been a history buff or anything but I know some of the presidents, inventions, social things that have happened in the last 50 years. I know technology wise we have progressed further than we ever have before in the last 25 years.We are now doing stem cell research on humans and Elvis has been dead awhile. There is so much that has happened in the last just 20 years, let alone the last 100. I kind of want to put 1920 and 2008 side by side just to see how drastic the differences are.
Pretty much anything prior to 1940 I'm kinda in the dark. I want to get a little more in depth on things, specifically things that people my age may have forgotten or never knew about. I know there was a man on the moon and I know Elvis died, but I don't know when and my guess wouldn't even be close. I know we went to war in Vietnam, but how long were we there and who sent the troops over there? I just have so many questions, on things that are said in passing. You've heard about it, but never really looked it up. How long was the Depression in the 30's and was it even in the 30's? These would be things you'd think every American would know, and I'm embarrassed to say I don't. Did blacks get the right to vote before women? Therefore this paper is going to be the most informative paper I have done to date. Also I think it is a topic everyone can relate to.

1a: Possible Topics
You would think coming up with ideas for a paper would be easy, naw. I suck at brainstorming, especially when I have to think of ideas that can encompass a fifteen page paper. First thoughts that come to mind are: The Holocaust, Aids in Africa, War in Iraq, Illegals in America, The economy, The depression of the 1930's, The last 100 years in America.
